Digital Smile Design

When Dr. Krapf was a dental implant sales consultant in America, he met Christian Coachman as the lead ceramist for the dental laboratory of Drs. Goldstein, Garber, and Salama (the world famous “Team Atlanta”). Christian fell off Dr. Krapf’s radar until 2013 when Christian’s face appeared on an advertisement in the Australian Dental Journal for “Digital Smile Design” (DSD). Learning more about the concept and technology that Christian and his team had developed, Dr. Krapf felt drawn to the concept. In the whole history of dentistry, patients were forced to have internal dreams of what a new smile could look like and take it on faith that the dentist could achieve it. Dentists should feel so honoured that patients would accept complex and costly treatment plans based solely on the belief that the dentist could achieve it. DSD has created a better option. We design the smile and create a “mock-up” so that you can “try before you buy”. If you want the end product, we then discuss options to achieve it, the phases, the timing and how to make the cost achievable. Even though we are dentists, we feel that committing to an expensive treatment plan without the chance to visualize the end result is the equivalent of buying a car that you never test drove.

We love kids! Dr. Krapf has three vivacious young daughters and knows the challenges of managing children’s dietary and cleaning habits. There is a mountain of evidence to tell us that kids that have good dental habits grow up to be adults without dental problems. Help us get your kids off to the right start for a lifetime of oral and whole-body health. We treat children in the practice and under general anaesthetic. We utilize the government Child Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS) to make dentistry more affordable for your family. If you are worried about the position and alignment of your child’s baby or adult teeth, we are fully equipped to conduct examination, imaging, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Some children we can treat right at our facility, and we work talented orthodontic specialist partners. Anyone playing contact sport (adults too!) should have a properly fitted mouthard to protect against painful and costly dental trauma
